Why Sing?
At Campanella, children learn to communicate with each other by means of music and Art. This communication occurs at a spiritual level. Speaking of music - and choral singing in particular - nothing develops human character better than teamwork in music. This is the case with any collective musical activity, be it chamber music, orchestral playing, or operatic performance. However, choral singing is especially effective at shaping character: by singing together in a choir, children form a special connection with each other, learning to feel the world around them more acutely. Possibly dull and flat and somewhat ordinary before the rehearsal, the world all of a sudden becomes brighter and acquires new, unexplored dimensions during the rehearsal. Choral singing, with all of its magical intricacies, uncovers the wonderful subtleties of the world and thus enriches children’s perspectives. Choir grants children the rare opportunity to notice the extraordinary.
